SOLAR ENERGY A WYSE CHOICE

SOLARWYSE Ltd. carries a complete line of solar power products. All major solar manufactures are available. Something you want, and do not see it just ask, if it is available, and of high quality we can get it for you. Solarwyse carries most solar product manufactured in North America, Europe, or Japan.
BATTERIES

The battery bank is considered the heart of the off grid system,  your solar energy is stored for use at a later time. SURRETTE/ROLLS is the Cadillac of lead acid solar batteries and are often seen in larger cooler climate off grid solar installations.  The smaller solar power systems often use DEKA absorbed glass mat batteries. The DEKA battery is ideal for remote location, where they charge slower and vent less hydrogen.
SOLAR PANELS

There are many manufactures of solar panels on the market, those that have been tested and proven for use in Canada, have a CSA approval. Before purchasing any solar component, always check for CSA rating. Solar panels can be designed for either on grid tie, or off grid operation, always consult with a knowledgeable supplier, before purchasing any panels to ensure that they will be compatible with your requirements.
CHARGE CONTROLLERS

The charge controller prevents damage to the battery from the energy produced in the solar array, There are two basic types on the market. Pulse Width Modulator (PWM) and Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT). The PWM are used in the smaller more remote applications, where the newer technology MPPT controllers are used in the larger off grid systems. The MPPT controllers can produce as much as 30% more charge from a solar array than the PWM.
MOUNTS

There are 4 basic mounts for solar panels, roof, pole, ground, and tracking mounts. As a general rule Canada is far enough north that, the expense of a tracking array is not economical. Most rural Canadians prefer ground mounts, because of the ease of snow removal, whereas urban Canadians prefer roof mounts because of space restrictions. Adding additional solar panels to a fixed array often leads to more output at less costs.
GENERATORS

Some day you will have see the number of light plants SOLARWYSE went through until we finally proved to ourselves that this is the one component not to cheap out on. Planning an alternative power home, with a backup generator, then go to a proper sized small diesel, or a 1800 rpm propane driven unit.. Ask the SOLARWYSE GUY for sizing requirements, then select a generator you will have years of trouble free service.
INVERTERS

An Inverter is designed to convert the energy stored in the battery bank to the alternating current used in our modern homes. Inverter output is rated in watts. Inverters can also produce either pure or modified sine wave outputs. The smaller modified sine wave inverters are used in the more remote, and smaller off grid systems. Pure sine wave inverters are found in the large home off grid, and all grid tie systems. Pure sine wave is a must for grid tied systems

WIND POWER

A wind power turbine can be a great adjunct to a solar power system. In the prairie provinces wind is viable in southern Alberta. Although there will be pockets of useable wind else where, you should become familiar with the exact energy the historic winds produce in your area. Wind charts can be obtained from Environment Canada. SOLARWYSE will work with you to determine if wind is viable at your location.
