If we switch to off grid solar power , what life style changes do we have to make?

This is the most often asked question I hear, There is one big change you have to make, and that is where are you going to spend the money you used to send to the local utility company. Living off the grid and being your own energy provider, makes you more aware of just where all your electrical energy is used, and then you start to use your power more wisely. There is no big change in life style, just more awareness of how to use your energy in a more efficient manner.
FAQ

How big of a solar power system do I need?

Well, that all depends on how much power you're going to be using day to day.

What do you want to run lights and the water pump or TV, VCR, microwave and or other amenities? Where do you live in the country?  The local weather and daily sunshine the amount of solar isolation you receive all make a difference. Remember, the more information you can provide us with, the better we can understand your needs and make the proper recommendations.  No point in you guessing which system might be right for you, just let us know the basics and let us do the figuring for you.

How long will my solar power system last?

Solar panels are typically warranted for 25 years and should give you at least that much good service.  Batteries are regular maintenance items and will have to be replaced on occasion.  A good set of batteries can last 10 - 15 years if properly maintained.  Inverters and charge controllers also, like most electronics, do fail on occasion.  However, most last a good long time and will give you years of reliable service.

What do I do if there is no sunshine?

If your inverter has a built in charger, you can run a generator to charge up your batteries in bad weather. You can automate your system so the standby generator will start/stop on its own, as needed.

Can I start with a small system and add more solar later?

Absolutely. Additional solar panels and batteries can always be added to an existing system for extra battery charging. You can start with a battery backup system, that includes an inverter, batteries and automatic starting generator, and add the solar and wind components at a later date.

Who will install my solar power system?

90% of our customers install their own systems.  All of our systems come with installation instructions, diagrams, and you can get a hold of me on the phone just about anytime at  888-402-4376, with any technical questions.  We understand that not everyone can install their own system and there are many installation centres all across the country that would be happy to help out. SOLARWYSE Ltd. Will also be please to install your system for you if you wish.

We are a family of 4 and live in a 2200 square foot home what size of solar power system do we need?
